The IB Career Programme (IBCP) is an internationally recognised qualification that provides an innovative educational framework for students aged 16 to 19. It incorporates the vision and educational principles of the IB into a unique programme specifically tailored for students who wish to engage in career-related learning.
IBCP students engage with a challenging programme of study that genuinely interests them while gaining transferable and lifelong skills in applied knowledge, critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural engagement. They are well prepared to succeed at institutions of higher learning and employment.
The IBCP framework is built around three interconnected elements where students have the opportunity to study:
Two IB Diploma Programme courses for example, Maths: applications and interpretation, English Literature and Language.
IBCP core that includes personal and professional skills, service learning, language development and a reflective project
Students will also study an approved career-related study programme for example Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma/ Extended Diploma in either Performing Arts, Public Services or Health and Social Care.
The IB learner profile underpins all International Baccalaureate programmes. The very essence of the IBCP encourages our students to develop crucial skills that will enable them to enter adulthood as confident, well-rounded and independent people. At The Royal Harbour Academy Sixth Form, we have taken the IB learner profile and the principles of learning to create a curriculum that is tailored to the students in front of us making it a unique experience for each year group.
