March-2026

• Manuscript published in Journal of Materials Chemistry C "Communication", where we have experimentally shown the spin-driven ferroelectric quantum criticality in a quantum spin liquid system Ba3CuSb2O9. This is Sayan's PhD thesis work.

• Mohit joined the NIMS Lab, Japan, for one year through the JST-LOTUS (Indo-Japan) grant.

• Awarded Neutron beamtime  (time-of-flight neutron diffraction) at Powgen in ORNL, USA.

• Awarded Neutron beamtime (INS) at MERLIN spectrometer in ISIS, STFC, UK

•  Awarded Muon beamtime at HIFI spectrometer in ISIS, STFC, UK

December-2025

• Dr. Basu's group received a highly prestigious and competitive Indo-Japan JST-LOTUS grant in collaboration with the NIMS Lab  (collaborator: Dr. Yoshihiro Tsujimoto) in Japan.  PhD student Mr. Mohit Kumar is a fellowship candidate who will visit the NIMS lab for one year in 2026. NIMS Lab is #1 material science lab in Japan and one of the best materials labs in the world.

•  Tathamay visited the CRISMAT Lab, CNRS, ENSICAEN in France, to strengthen the scientific collaborations

• Tathamay delivered an Invited seminar at the CRISMAT Lab, CNRS, on 27 August.

• Manuscript is accepted in PRB (https://doi.org/10.1103/c5s4-4hxw ), where we have explored the magnetic ground state of Ba5Ru3O12 through Inelastic Neutron Scattering and muSR. This is Ekta's PhD thesis work.  

June-2025

•  Manuscript is published in J MaterChem C (https://doi.org/10.1039/D5TC01652E ), where we have explored the magnetic ground state of Ba3TbRu2O9 and demonstrated an unconventional s-orbital state of Tb(4f). This is Ekta's PhD thesis work.

• Tathamay Basu has received a high-level SSHN Visiting Fellowship from the Embassy of France to visit the CRISMAT Lab, CNRS, ENSICAEN, France.

• Mohit and Sayan visited RRCAT (DAE centre at Indore) to perform temperature-dependent synchrotron XRD. 

• Obtained Neutron beamtime at HB-1A VERITAS at HFIR in ORNL, USA.

• Gourab received highly prestigious and competitive Raman-Charpak Fellowship (Indo-French fellowship).

• One-day SERB-sponsored workshop (Offline Mode) on  “Design and Characterization of Magnetoelectric Materials for next-generation devices” is organized on November 30 (Saturday), 2024, at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Jais, Amethi.

• Our collaborative with Prof. Panda (Chemistry group @ RGIPT) in energy-efficient photo-catalysis field has been published now in ACS Applied Energy Materials.  Here we demonstrate how a small bi-metal doping in CsPbBr3 nano-perovskite system introduce a new Dodecahedron structure which is prone for photocatalysis.

• Congratulations to Ekta, Gourab, Mohit, and Sayan for publishing the paper in PRB.  (Phys. Rev. B 109,224418(2024)). This is Ekta's thesis work. Ekta and Gourab are both equal co-authors.

• Manna, Aditya Narayan, Aditya Arya, and Ashwini joined our group as a DIC undergrad project student. They have completed their 1st year B. Tech.

• Mohit (2nd year PhD student) has grown a Single crystal of a spin-chain oxide containing Co and Mn at UGC-DAE Indore Central Facility in collaboration with Dr. Arvind Yogi.
