Scientific Studies provides a powerful platform for students to develop their capabilities; in particular to think creatively, work collaboratively and be innovative. The course is based around the development of science inquiry skills, including making observations, questioning and thinking, designing, collaborating, conducting investigations, understanding data, evaluating and drawing conclusions. Class work is largely practical based (both collaborative and individual), with independent research. It is important for students to have good communication skills as keeping a journal/log book and writing practical reports are key skills in this course.
Inquiry folio: practical reports, research and essays (50%)
Collaborative inquiry: group practical work (20%)
Externally assessed individual investigation: individual long term inquiry project (30%)
Completion of any 10 credit Stage 1 Science course with a minimum result of C Grade or more is recommended.
SACE Credits: 20 (Stage 2 SACE)
