Our Seven Common Emotions
We will create a series of symbols to represent each emotion in the creative thought continuum. We will take a note on a chart every time we recognize the change from one emotion to the other. The video below includes an explanation for each emotion listed and a visual example of me going through the process. You will need something to draw on, something to draw with, and the Emotions Note Chart Handout. Please click "Emotions Note Chart Handout" to print out your own chart.
We've identified the stages in the creative thought continuum
We've taken the time to engage in a creative exercise, creating our own illustrated "Creative Thought Continuum".
We've made our thinking visible by noting our emotions on a chart as we created. Don't forget to reflect on the challenging and freeing moments.
Everyone who creates, goes through seven emotions while creating new things.
Being aware of your thinking and knowing that the emotions come in an order helps you push past intrusive thoughts that block our creative processes.
The beauty is coming! Creating quality work takes care and is not instant. Be gracious with yourself and celebrate the wins as you create.
