DBT Skills Informed group at Remedy Counseling and Assessment is a 24-week open group meeting 4-6 PM every Monday for adults (18+). Group members will learn and implement the four modules of Marsha Linehan’s DBT skills including Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. We will practice mindfulness every step along the way as they learn to manage overwhelming, intense emotions to be more effective in their day to day living. Next, we will be able to better identify unwanted emotions while increasing pleasant emotions, and consider positive and negative consequences of their actions. Lastly, we will learn to navigate interpersonal situations through the use of assertive communication and strengthening boundaries. Group members are welcome to join the first two weeks of a six week module; however, if they do not attend in the first two weeks, we ask them to join the next module to prevent disruption to the current group dynamics. We are currently meeting via tele-health and in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is meant to be a supplemental group that can coexist along with individual, couples, or family counseling.
