At Rainbows @ St Silas, we are passionate about children’s learning. We want each and every child to have a fun, happy and active time with us, and this is reflected in the learning experiences that we design for our children. Below you will find information about the Early Years areas of learning and development and how we deliver our curriculum in Rainbows @ St Silas. Our Early Years Curriculum ensures out babies and toddlers learn through high-quality play (child initiated and adult led) including life enriching experiences such as Forest School sessions, visits to the library and walks around our local area.
Learning Through Play
At Rainbows we ensure that every child is given the opportunity to learn through high quality play experiences. Play is vital for children. It helps them to understand the world around them and to develop socially and emotionally. It is through play that our children learn, develop at their own pace and have fun with adults who understand, support and care about them.
We want the children we care for to feel secure, not pushed or pressured, and to have the confidence to deal with whatever life brings.
We observe and plan experiences based upon children’s current interests and fascinations which supports all aspects of their learning and development, encourages their in-built curiosity and desire to make sense of the world around them and helps them to discover that learning is interesting and fun.
Early Years Foundation Stage
The Early Years Foundations Stage (EYFS) is the statutory framework that we use to guide our practice. It sets the standards for welfare, care learning and development for children from birth to five years. It gives all professionals a set of common principles and commitments to deliver quality early education and childcare experiences to all children.
Routine
At Rainbows we have a flexible routine that allows us to meet the individual needs of all children. We recognise the many learning opportunities daily routines provide such as meal times and nappy changes. With our younger babies we try to follow your routine at home however as your child grows and develops we will encourage them to transition to our routine to maximise the quality of provision.
