Important Testing Considerations & Recommendations

Exam Availability:

  • Certain exams are only offered during specific testing windows. Others are offered continuously, please reference the testing windows section below to determine the recommended testing schedule for your exams.
  • Testing availability is dependent on the testing center you select, the dates below are only ranges in which the exam is offered. Please register in order to determine exact availability.

Re-Take Policy:

  • You must wait 21 days before retaking any Praxis exam, and 30 days before retaking a PECT Pre-K module. Therefore, it is critical to make an early attempt on your exams in order to provide yourself with the opportunity to re-test.

Score Reporting Timeline:

  • It takes longer to receive score reports for any Praxis exam with a Constructed Response (CR) component whereas Selected Response (SR) only exam score reports are available more quickly.
  • It is in your best interest to prioritize early testing on exams with CR components and to attempt them during the earlier windows to ensure you receive score reports back in a timely manner.

New Jersey GPA & Qualifying Praxis Scores (GPA Flexibility):

  • If your cumulative undergraduate GPA was a 3.5 or higher – You may score 5% lower than the typical passing score for Praxis II exams and will still meet requirements. See here for more info.
      • Please note: Your ETS score report will appear as though you did not pass when using flexibility.
  • If your cumulative undergraduate GPA was between a 2.75 and 3.0 – You must score 10% higher than the typical passing score for Praxis II exams in order to meet requirements. See here for more info.
      • Please note: If you fall into this category and meet the “typical passing score” your ETS score report may appear as though you’ve passed but when the DOE reviews your CE application it will be denied unless you’ve met the 10% higher cut off scores shown here.
