These tools are for use with Chromebooks or the Chrome browser on a desktop or laptop.
They won't work on an iPhone or iPad, even if you're using the Chrome browser there.

👇 Click the title of each extension below to go directly to the Chrome web store page where you can install the extension.
If you install an extension and decide you don't like it, you can remove it at any time by right-clicking it and then clicking Remove from Chrome.

After installing the extension, click it, then click turn on. Hover your mouse over the text on any webpage. The paragraph of text will be highlighted green. Click the text (or press the spacebar) to hear the text read aloud.
Right-click the extension after installation to access options like speed and voice.
Click the extension and click turn off when done.
After installing the extension, double-click any word on a web page to view its definition in a small pop-up bubble. You'll need to reload the page after you install the extension.
You can also hear the word's pronunciation by clicking the audio icon.

Eric Curts' Marvelous Mote Activities (warning: rabbit hole!)
Open Dyslexic is an open sourced font created to increase readability for readers with dyslexia.
After installing the extension, click it to change all web page fonts to the OpenDyslexic font, and to format pages to be more easily readable.
Postlight Reader (formerly Mercury Reader)
Removes ads and other distractions, leaving only text and images for a much easier-to-read format.
After installing the extension, you may need to refresh your browser.
To use the extension, go to the website you want to be more readable, then click the Mercury Reader extension.
Productivity extension
Restricts the amount of time you can spend on "time-wasting" websites
Does not collect personal information or transmit any data about your preferences

Screen overlay tool darkens out the page except for a horizontal band that can be moved up and down the screen, helping the student to focus.
