VRHS Career Center
The VRHS Career Center helps students apply their skills in real-world settings through internships, job shadows, and workplace mentoring. These experiences give students a competitive edge for college, careers, and community leadership. The Career Center is located in Room 408, attached to the Library Media Center, and is open during the school day. The dedicated School-to-Career Coordinator is available to support you.
What are Career Pathways?
Career Pathways are coordinated programs that help students build academic, technical, and employability skills for college and careers. Aligned with Connecticut Department of Labor priorities, these pathways ensure students are prepared for an evolving workforce. Pathways help students create personalized learning plans tied to career interests, stay engaged through meaningful, relevant learning, and choose a path that supports long-term academic and career success. Valley Regional High School offers ten Career Pathways aligned with Connecticut workforce needs.
What are Programs of Study?
Each Career Pathway includes a sample Program of Study outlining courses and experiences that meet VRHS graduation requirements and prepare students for their chosen careers.
Fine Arts in Career Pathways
Fine Arts are intentionally embedded in all Career Pathways. Research shows arts participation strengthens problem-solving and perspective-taking skills - values shared by the Chester, Deep River, and Essex communities. Students in the Arts and Communication Pathway have the greatest flexibility and access to Fine Arts courses across their four-year plan.
