Why were children evacuated in WW2 ?
Children in WW2 were evacuated (sent away).
This was because of the bombing, the children were evacuated to keep them safe from being hurt.
The children who were evacuated were known as evacuees.
When the children were sent away they were greeted to "new parents" but they were known as host parents.
The children would travel by train to the countryside (that's were they were evacuated).
Most people from London were sent away to Wales, Cornwall or Devon.
Children were evacuated to the countryside because its a small area that is less likely to be bombed.
