Air raid shelters were safe places for people to go if there was the threat of a bomb. There were three types of shelters, they were Anderson shelters, Morrison shelters and Public shelters. Cellars, basements and underground stations were used for people to take shelter. Some people had local community shelters made of metal and steel that were sunken into the ground that they had to hide in. Lots of different types were used and sometimes they would not work and the bombs would kill the people in the  people hiding inside the shelter. o matter what you were doing, if an air raid siren went off you had to go into your shelter.
