7th Grade
The vast majority of media we now consume is accessed digitally. The Media Literacy class aims to help 7th graders develop a strong understanding of the impact of digital media on their lives. Throughout this quarter-long class, students engage in conversations and participate in real-life scenarios that help them develop the skills needed to be self-aware and safe digital citizens. Topics covered include online safety, cyberbullying, evaluating resources for credibility, and shaping our digital footprint. We start each week by discussing our own media-usage and how it can impact our social and emotional wellbeing, and take time to reflect on the benefits of "unplugging." Through personal reflection and the sharing of experiences, students gain knowledge and insight of digital media in an authentic way.
