Honors / Advanced Placement

Honors/AP courses provide students with the opportunity to experience a more rigorous academic curriculum and bolster their grade point averages (GPA). Weighted 5 points on a 4-point scale, Honors/AP courses possess higher level expectations, are more time consuming than mainstream classes, and require higher quality work.

  • Most Honors/AP courses require summer homework, which will be found on the school website by early June.

  • It is an expectation that all students who take an AP course also take an AP exam. Through AP Exams, students have the opportunity to earn credit or advanced standing at most of the nation’s colleges and universities.

  • If you request an Honors/AP course in your schedule and change your mind at a later date, availability in regular courses may be limited.

Please thoroughly think through this decision before you commit to the Honors/AP program.
