Good day Reddford family
I hope that you have all had a fantastic week as the rain has subsided and the sun returned to our Campus. As I am sure you are all aware load shedding is now back at Stage 6, meaing that we do not have power at school for roughly 4 hours at a time. We are not sure if this is the new norm or if it it will return to normal any time soon.
I would like to thank the staff for their patience and enginuity as we navigate our way through this challege and ensuring that educating our students continues seamlessly.
We are currently investigating alternative power sources, one being the implementation of a full solar powered system, which would enable the school to function unchallenged during extended load shedding periods. Another being the installation of generators or even possibly inverters. We will continue to manage as we have thus far until an alternative solution has been decided upon.
Regarding water, we have jojo tanks on sight that we continuously fill with borehole water. When the Randwater reservoir is depleted we move over to borehole water which then supplies the school. When we have load shedding, however, the pumps do not operate so we are also looking to combine those pumps with solar pumps to try and ensure that we maximize the amount of water pumping into the jojo’s throughout the day.
We continue to strive to do our best.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
Kind Regards
Grant Ferreira
