Blanca Robbins, Head "Lunch Lady"
Blanca Robbins is one of the head lunch ladies who keeps everything moving during the lunch switches and early in the morning. Her schedule includes arriving at the school at 5:45 AM to get everything set up! Her shift ends at 1:30 PM, but she often stays back an hour later to help.
When interviewing Mrs. Robbins, I asked her for any great memories she has from her SEVEN years of working at Conrad. Her statement was that, "Every year is a good memory because there are kids coming into the building who are new that I get to know," along with seniors- who leave every year- that she has known and got to see grow up in a way.
When I continued asking her questions, I asked if she enjoyed working at Conrad, and she said she does! She enjoys every day in the building- despite how tiring it can be. Days have their ups and downs, but she believes that the obstacles that occur aren't impossible to overcome. She also gives a warm "shoutout" to all of the lunch ladies and custodians for all of the hard work they do to feed and help every kid in the school building.
Mr. Seifert: Technology Champion & Computer Science Pathway Teacher
The "Fix-it Felix" of Conrad schools of Sciences
by: Caitlin p.
Mr. Seifert is one of the many teachers who work at Conrad. He specifically teaches in the computer science pathway. His classroom is always a joy to be in. He's wanted to teach since college and has worked as a teacher for 11 years. He generally likes helping people.
One of his favorite parts of teaching is getting to explain things that are currently happening in the world. For example, hacking, data breaches, artificial intelligence, etc., because computer science changes more quickly than other subjects- like math. He generally likes seeing his students enjoy his class, being curious and wanting to learn.
Teaching is not the only thing Mr. Seifert does at Conrad. He's in charge of the school's website and all aspects of the technology, as well as the sound system and lights in the auditorium. He's also the school's lead technology instructor for teachers AND students when we get new technology or when it breaks. He is the "Fix-it Felix" of the school; whether you know him or not, he has most likely helped you in one way or another. He does so much for the school and has fun doing it.
Thank you so much, Mr. Seifert, for doing so much for your community and all the work you have done for Conrad.
