As of September 11th, selling energy drinks on Delaware school grounds during school hours/events has been officially banned. This new policy was signed by Governor Matt Meyer to address the many health issues that arise from the consumption of caffeinated drinks by minors.
Health concerns include:
High blood pressure
Sleep disturbances
Dehydration
Digestive issues
Caffeine overdosing
and many more.
This law only applies to school shops that sell energy drinks themselves, and not students that purchase their drinks outside of school and bring them into class (unless specified otherwise by specific school districts). However, it is still important that students keep energy drink consumption at a moderate and safe level.
This summer, researchers from the Lukuru Wildlife Research Foundation made a groundbreaking discovery by uncovering the fifth member of new African monkey species to be discovered in the last 75 years, this time being in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its name is the “Colobus Congoensis”, but they’re more commonly known as “Likweli” monkeys, which is the name they were given by locals before being classified as a new species.
These monkeys were actually rumored about years before their discovery, but were never fully documented for a long time due to their tendency to avoid humans and high altitude habitats. Researchers struggled because of this. Encounters with the mystery monkeys and chances to observe them were rare. Luckily, conservation officers were able to confiscate deceased samples from hunters, greatly boosting the amount of information scientists had about the monkeys. They continued their research as they gained new findings throughout the years until eventually July 15th of this year, when they classified the Likweli monkey as their own brand new species.
