The Anglophone Community Expo (ACE) once again brought together professionals from across Quebec’s adult general education (AGE) and vocational training (VT) sectors on March 20, 2025. This year’s event, held in the interactive Gather platform, combined professional development, networking opportunities, and rich discussions around key themes shaping education today. Whether participants stayed in a single hub or roamed from topic to topic, ACE 2025 offered plenty of takeaways.
Several recurring themes emerged from the discussions and feedback. Many participants found inspiration in the gamification hubs, which explored how games can enhance engagement and offer students more options for accessing and reviewing content. Attendees left with practical strategies for integrating games into both traditional and multi-level classes. AI was another hot topic, with participants excited to explore its potential for lesson planning, content creation, and student support.
ACE 2025 wasn’t just about learning new tools—it was also about connecting with others. Several attendees commented on how refreshing it was to engage with like-minded educators and share experiences across sectors. The Voc Talk Café offered informal conversations, while the hubs provided space for deeper dives into specific topics.
The keynote presentation, by Zachary Reznichek, and several hubs showcased innovative digital tools. One attendee shared how inspired they were by a session on Canva, which demonstrated how embedding videos can enhance student instructions.
The program followed last year’s successful format with a mix of keynote speakers, conversation hubs, and informal networking. Many participants noted that the flexibility to visit hubs at their own pace was one of the event’s highlights, giving them the autonomy to focus on the themes most relevant to their practice.
The overall feedback was overwhelmingly positive. ACE 2025 felt, as one participant put it, “like an ed-camp-like, in-person conference,” with a lively and welcoming atmosphere. One of the facilitators also commented that the hub set up was “effective when it came to providing information the participants were interested in. As opposed to a planned presentation where some of the content may be unnecessary for the audience, this gave the opportunity to share what was wanted”.
Looking Ahead to ACE 2026
The ACE organizing committee is already gearing up for next year’s event, which will take place on March 19, 2026. Registration is now open, and all AGE and VT educators are invited to attend. Stay tuned for more details on the program, including a formal call for proposals.
For those who couldn’t attend this year, a detailed highlights summary is coming soon. In the meantime, reach out to your RÉCIT or PROCEDE consultants if you’d like to suggest discussion topics for future hubs.
Thank you to everyone who participated in ACE 2025 and made it such a memorable event. See you next year!
