The purpose of the SBHC is to increase access to quality health care, on-site (in the school building) and in-person in a welcoming, safe, and confidential environment that supports our youths’ health and well-being. Enrolled scholars have access to comprehensive health care regardless of insurance coverage, and incur no out-of-pocket expenses. Services include primary and preventative care, physicals, immunizations, treatment for illnesses and injuries, adolescent health services, counseling (mental health) and screenings, referrals, medication management, on-site lab, and on-going collaboration and care coordination with other health care and primary care providers. The SBHC is staffed by Nurse Practitioners, Therapist/Licensed Social Workers, and Ambulatory Technicians. Majority of scholars that request a medical appointment are seen same day (walk-in) or within 24 hours.
