Clay slab texture fish with Neon Oil Pastels and tempera paint
Student experimented with tempera paint to achieve the color of their skin. we used red white brown yellow and black to practice. They painted paper for their self portraits. After individual conferences showing placement of features they added details.

They had a blast cutting and glueing various papers to make a self portrait.
We used quick Stix to create shadows in the snow for our angels.

Grade Three Monochromatic Landscape & I am from ....poem
Students created a poem after learning about culture and families in class. We discussed where they feel they are from. Some wrote about where they were born. We discussed monochromatic, and atmospheric perspective and created gradients with a color. We added details with shades of black and their chosen color.

Grade Four
Artists created value studies with colored pencils. Focussing on shadow and light sources. We used pumpkins as a focal point for our drawings. We discussed layering and blending of colored pencils.
We are also learning hand-building techniques. Last year we used a subtractive method. This year we are adding coils to create vessels. We looked at examples of Native American pottery.

Grade Five Native American Artifacts
Student artists became experts on Native Americans in their classrooms. Their expedition's final product was a museum of artifacts. Students created various artifacts in the art room to compliment their work with their teachers

Sixth Grade students explored themes of heroes. What qualities does a hero possess? They wrote an essay in class and created a self portrait using photographs, transparencies, sharpies and paint.

Students created a class sarcophagus. It consisted of a plaster mask, tempera paint and paint markers for details. Students had work in small groups to assist with the completion of the sarcophagus. After analyzing Egyptian art they added patterns and symbols.

We learned about robots and how they help people do a job. we drew robots and during the next session we used markerbots to draw. They consist of a battery a small motor completes the circuit and a cap that spins. We experimented with tape to alter the path the bot used.
