SESSION 1 - Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program

Presented by: Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association (RTMA) and MCC

Note: anyone can join this session, but to join the Youth Apprenticeship Program you must be a student in the 11th or 12th grades.

The Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program pairs high school youth with employers and the training needed in the skilled trades. Through this program, relevant education and critical on-the-job training create the precise combination to put you on the right track to a promising career. Through an "earn while you learn" approach, 11th and 12th graders will learn employable skills while they are in high school and will be matched with local employers. 12th graders will participate in a payable co-op experience. SESSION 2 - How is Email Different Than a Text?

Description: Youth Voice One Vision (YVOV), the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council, is dedicated to connecting, training and advising Rochester’s youth leaders, city governance, adult advisors and community stakeholders. The goal is to establish a diverse membership of youth who can provide expertise in various fields and to inform and impact policies related to youth issues. Join us for an interactive session as we compare professional emails to text messages. We will also give you tools on how to effectively communicate electronically in the workplace.

SESSION 3 - Unions 101: Worker's Rights and Advocacy

Presented by: Tracey Harrison Vice President of the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East

Description: Join Mr. Harrison, a union leader, to learn about what unions are how they benefit workers. Unions are an important part of the working world that help advocate for worker's right. In this session you will learn about the history of unions, in what jobs you might have union representation today, and what you need to know about unions if you were to be represented by one.

SESSION 4 - One-on-One Resume, Cover Letter, and Interview Help

Description: Do you want resume, cover letter, or interview practice? In this session you will have the opportunity for 20 minute one-on-one help with a local professional. Please bring a virtual copy of your resume and/or sample cover letter if you have one. If you do not, please come prepared with questions you have about creating a resume or cover letter. You will also be able to participate in a mock interview.

SESSION 6 - Paid Internship Opportunities with WellVentions

Description: WellVentions is a paid after-school training program that helps students gain the real world experience necessary to get and keep a job, while earning monthly stipends and commissions as they work at the Rochester Public Market. Meet our students and program Alumni as they share how WellVentions youth operate the only year round youth-run business in the region. Pathways include: Running A Business, Product Development & Branding, and Media Arts & Edutainment. Our youth will explain how you can explore career options, learn basic soft and hard business skills, discover what it takes to become a valued employee in the workforce, and connect with employers.

SESSION 7 - Financial Literacy - Go for Gold Program (Part 1)

Presented by: Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Rochester

Description: Go for Gold is a financial literacy program that teaches youth about different components of financial competence. Utilizing a peer-to-peer education model, the program trains youth between the ages of 11 and 18 who then become peer educators, teaching other students within their schools and community. Once trained, youth can earn up to $250 by presenting to their peers about financial wellness. Aside from teaching youth the fundamentals of financial wellbeing, Go for Gold also imparts professional skills in public speaking, leadership, conflict resolution, and confidence-building. This is part one of a two-part series. To be fully Go for Gold certified, participants should also register for part two on Thursday, April 1st.

SESSION 8 - Managing My Emotions in the Workplace: Emotional Intelligence

Description: Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is equally if not more important than the Intelligence Quotient (IQ). Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand and manage your own emotions, and those of the people around you. People with a high degree of emotional intelligence know what they're feeling, what their emotions mean, and how these emotions can affect other people. Employers want employees who have strong Emotional Intelligence skills and who can work well and and communicate well with others. Join this session to learn these skills.

SESSION 11 - Employment Opportunities with City of Rochester Aquatics Programs

Presented by: City of Rochester Department of Recreation and Human Services Aquatics Programs

Description: The City of Rochester Department of Recreation and Human Service is looking for candidates for employment with our Aquatics programs this summer at a variety of indoor and outdoor pools and Durand Eastman Beach. Our mission is to recruit a diverse potential lifeguards that will be trained to support a safe environment for our residents that swim at our pools. During this session, We will share how you will have the opportunity to provide a safe swimming environment, engage with the community, teach valuable swim lessons to youth and adults and grow as a valued employee. If you are not a certified lifeguard and you have basic swimming skills, we will discuss the opportunity to participate in a American Red Cross Lifeguard program beginning April 5th at Adams St. Pool. SESSION 12 - Isaac Paid Training & Construction Training Programs

Presented by: Isaac Heating & Air Conditioning

Note: anyone can join this session, but to be a candidate in either of Isaac's programs you must be at least 18 years old.

Description: Isaac Heating & Air Conditioning will present on two programs aimed to help candidates enter the skill trades. (1) The Golisano Construction Technology Training Program is a free 6-week series to train participants in the building trades, including roofing, window and door installation, siding, plumbing, pipe fitting, electrical wiring, drywall and finishing, and painting. Participants who complete the program will be gifted a full tool set and matched an employer that aligns with their career interests and goals. (2) Isaac University's Boot Camp is a 12-week paid training and education program to help participants start their career as a technician or installer. Participants will learn skills in Heating, Venting, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) for gainful employment at Isaac Heating & Air Conditioning. Candidates for both programs must be at least 18 years old.

SESSION 13 - Employment Opportunities with L3Harris

Note: anyone can join this session, but candidates for employment with L3Harris must be at least 18 years old.

Description: L3Harris is a leading technology company and information technology services provider with several Rochester locations. There are currently positions available at L3Harris' Henrietta facility for Test Technicians and Surface-Mount Technology Machine Operators, Assemblers, and Material Handlers. Test Technicians and SMT Machine Operators troubleshoot circuits and components. Assemblers assemble mechanical and electrical equipment. Material Handlers handle stockrooms and inventory control. Participants will learn about these opportunities and more at L3Harris. Candidates for employment must be at least 18 years old.
