Meet Your Teacher

Hi!!  My name is Dr. Rice and I am so excited that I get to be your teacher this year!!  I have been teaching in the Rochester City School District for more than 20 years, the last 14 of which have been at Kindergarten.  I am passionate about working with our youngest learners and helping them get off to a great start with their schooling. I know how important it is for children to have a strong foundation of skills early on as well as learn how to work well with others to help everyone learn and do their best. My personal goal is for your child to LOVE school and love learning!

About me..... I have been married for over 30 years and my husband is in the IT department at Brockport Central Schools where we live.  We met when we were both on active duty in the US Navy and stationed in Europe together.

We have one daughter, Amber, who is 28 and the Assistant Director of Residence Life at SUNY Brockport.  In May 2020, Amber graduated with her 2nd Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration and I finished my doctorate!

I was lucky enough to attend the University of Rochester from 2015-2020 to complete my doctorate in STEM education with a focus on Technology and the value of teaching kindergarteners how to code using robots and computer-based coding. I also love doing STEM challenges in the classroom to help students learn to think creatively and engage in problem solving. I know your child will LOVE being able to engage in these kinds of learning experiences!
