Eastman Pathways program

About the Program

Eastman Pathways gives children in RCSD the opportunity to pursue music lessons, ensembles, music history and theory classes, and more through Eastman Community Music School (ECMS). Learn more about the program by visiting their website!

Who can apply?

  • Must be an RCSD student in 4th-10th grade.
  • Must be recommended by their RCSD instrumental, vocal, or general music teacher.
  • Must have played their instrument for at least a year.
  • Must have completed a NYSSMA Solo Festival audition.
  • Must commit to participate in their school music program for the 2020-2021 school year.
  • Must be in good academic standing with no disciplinary referrals.
  • Must maintain 90% attendance or greater.

What is the cost?

Acceptance into Pathways is NOT based on income. Your income level will not effect your acceptance into Pathways.

  • A Pathways Scholarship covers private lessons and any classes or ensembles for which you are eligible.
  • Generally, income UNDER $40,000 receive a full tuition scholarship.
  • Scholarship amount is based on a sliding scale for incomes OVER $40,000.
  • All students are required to pay a $30.00 registration fee per year.
  • There may be other fees for course materials (up to $25.00/semester)

Audition Requirements

At the audition, you will be asked to:

  • Tell us the names of notes in bass and treble clefs
  • Perform 2-3 scales (of the student's choice)
  • Sightread a short piece appropriate for your NYSSMA level
  • Perform a prepared solo from the NYSSMA Manual.

Your school music teacher will be able to help you prepare to showcase your skills!
