Want to see a different side to Hong Kong and learn some new skills at the same time?

Learn to sail with the Hebe Haven Yacht Club! Whether you have an interest in sailing or just want to try it out for the first time, whether you're active or find activity a challenge, this is a great opportunity for you! 

Students will have the opportunity to experience the magic of sailing in the idyllic waters around Hebe Haven Yacht club in Sai Kung. Tuition will be provided by qualified and experienced RYA trained instructors.

We have both Keelboat & Dinghy certificate courses available.


HKSF Dinghy Level 1 & 2 (6 x students per group)

We can offer you 2 groups x 12 students for this course

 

HKSF Keelboat 1 & 2 (5 x students per boat / crew)

We can offer you 2 groups x 10 students for this course


Students will meet each day at 10am at Hebe Haven Yacht Club in Pak Sha Wan, Sai Kung. The activity will end by 5pm each day and students will make their own way home. They will be accompanied by teacher supervisors. 


Requirements: Students must be able to swim. This activity is ideally for beginners or those who have a basic level of sailing.

 

Students need to bring packed lunches each day and eat at the club or at a beach, weather dependent.

HKSF LEVEL 1 Dinghy course ( 2 days)
Introduction to Sailing  - The aim of this course is to provide a brief experience of dinghy sailing for someone who has never sailed before. By the end of the course, participants will have had a short introduction to the sport of dinghy sailing, including basic boat handling techniques and essential background knowledge.  The emphasis of this course will be largely practical.


HKSF LEVEL 2 Dinghy course ( 3 days)
Basic Skills - By the end of the course the successful sailor will be safety conscious, have a basic knowledge of sailing and be capable of sailing a dinghy without an Instructor on board in light winds.  The emphasis of this course will be largely practical.


Students will learn how to sail either a laser pico (1-2 person) or Laser Quest (2-4 person) type dinghy.
They will be taught how to rig and de-rig the boat.
Each day the students will be given instruction on sailing techniques out on the water.


On the final day will be a mini regatta sailing competition so that the students can show the skills that they have learned.

HKSF LEVEL 1 Keelboat course (2 days)
Introduction to Sailing  - The aim of this course is to provide a short introduction to sailing in a keelboat for those who have never sailed before.  By the end of the course participants will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, ropework and be aware of safety on board.  The emphasis of this course will be largely practical.


HKSF LEVEL 2 Keelboat Competent Crew (3 days)
By the end of the course the successful sailor will be safety conscious, have a basic knowledge of sailing and be capable of sailing a keelboat with little input from the instructor in light winds.  The course introduces personal safety, seamanship and helmsmanship to the level required to be a useful member of the crew of a cruising yacht.
