Colour Theory

Colour Wheel

Go to your Colour Wheel and Colour Theory page in your sketch book. Use the wheel and the information to fill in the colour schemes on the Colour Theory work sheet. Pencils and markers work best.

Colour Schemes

Complimentary colours: These are opposite on the colour wheel and we used these in our POP Art paintings. Monochromatic means one colour. Tints and shades are lighter and darker hues of that colour. How will you create these? What material will work?

Choose one colour scheme to explore. Harmonious, Complementary or Monochromatic.

Decide what materials to use, coloured pencils, markers, water colour, or perhaps a combination?

Use your colour scheme to fill in the pattern. Cut it out and glue it in your sketch book.

Reflection:

Label your work with the colour scheme that you chose. In your own words describe what your colour scheme is. How does this colour scheme make you feel? When might you want to use that in your art?

Upload:

Take a photo of your artwork and reflection and upload it to your google class room. You will find it under Art: Assignment.
