Common School Funds
The library media centers are primarily funded through common school funds, which are used to purchase books, databases, Makerspace (STEAM) materials, technology, computers, software, magazines and other items as allowed. Each library media technology specialist and technology integrationist purchases materials that support both classroom teachers and students, targeting their unique population, interests, and needs. Each district receives an allocation based on resident population of children ages 4-20 (school census) and the per child amount determined by the state after considering available funds and district counts. An estimate is given to school districts in January and the final payment is made in April. As a school district, funds are split between the two libraries and are used to purchase items to meet the needs of our students and staff.
