This course is designed for freshmen who need strategic interventions in one or more components of literacy: reading fluency, reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and/or speaking/listening. Students are enrolled in this course to ensure that they can be successful in the literacy demands of other content areas, especially those courses with high reading and writing demands. This Tier II course is required for all freshmen who do not reach multiple Tier II data scores on locally normed assessments. Although this course does not meet English graduation requirements, it does count as an elective credit. Students are placed in this class based on a combination of their PSAT 8 EBRW score, MAP Reading score and teacher recommendations.
This course is required for sophomores who do not meet one or more Tier III data points on locally normed assessments. As with the freshmen extended reading class, students will receive individualized programming to assist with their comprehension and writing skills. Much emphasis is placed on academic vocabulary and the skills necessary to succeed in other content areas. This course does not meet English graduation requirements but does count as an elective. Students are placed in this class based on a combination of their performance on STAR Reading assessments, Read 180 assessments and teacher recommendations.

This course is designed for students who have completed the middle school math sequence but are not yet ready for algebra. Students study topics including but not limited to integers, order of operations, algebraic expressions, and one and two step equations. Successful completion of this course prepares students for Algebra 1. Students are placed in this class based on a combination of their PSAT 8 math score and teacher recommendations.
This course covers the same core curriculum taught in Algebra I, but provides additional time for practice, re-teaching, and reinforcement of the skills taught. Successful completion of this course prepares students for Algebra II. Students are placed in this class based on a combination of their PSAT 8 Math score and teacher recommendations.
