Have you ever wondered what the Olympics are? Well, the Olympics are pretty much an athletic sporting event, it's a huge and important game. But in other words, itās an athletic festival that originated in Greece and was revived in the late 19th century. The Olympic opening ceremony started in 1908 and it was held in London. Athletes marched into the stadium behind their nation's flag.
Did you know the First modern Olympics were held in Athens, Greece? The last Olympics was in Berlin, Germany from the 17th of June to the 25th of June 2023. This Olympic sporting event will be held in Paris from the 26 of July to the 11th of August 2024. The reason this sporting event is so important is because so many people watch it.Ā A little under half of the population 3.05 billion people watch the Olympics. The most-watched Olympic game was in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, China had the largest television audience in the history of the Olympics.Ā
They had more than half of our population, with 4.7 billion people across the world. You might be wondering what sports are even in the Olympics. Well, there are only 9 original sports but, there are only 40 sports in the Olympics. Now what are the most popular sports that are in the Olympics? Well there are so many including swimming, diving, water polo, badminton basketball, boxing, cycling, football and so many more.Ā Ā Ā
