Do you think I-Learn is unnecessary? If you do, then this article is for you. In this article, you will read about all of the reasons I-Learn is unnecessary and a waste of time.
I-Learn is a waste of time. With the time that we do I-Learn testing and I-Learn practice testing, we could be learning stuff that is actually beneficial to us. NeaToday says it's a waste of time because,” Standardized tests don't accurately measure student learning and growth.” If you’ve been at this school for more than 1-2 years then you should know how to take the tests. Kids who have been at this school since 3rd grade know how I-Learn testing works and know how to click the next and back button. There is no point in doing the practice tests since we’ve been doing them for the past 4 years. This shows that it’s just a waste of time.
Teachers say that they prepare you for questions on I-Learn for the whole year, but when you actually take the test, none of what you learned is even on the test! Even when we were taking the I-Learn practice test with Mrs. Ayer, she didn’t know what a word meant! If a teacher doesn’t even know what it means, how do they expect middle schoolers to know?Â
I-Learn doesn’t show what we learn at all. Because of this, the tests don’t show
what you really know and what you’ve actually learned. In 2021 only 28.6% actually passed the exam and even before covid the passing rate was only 37.1%. So does that mean that only that percent actually were passing their classes and knew what they were doing or does it just show how many actually passed the exam. And some people could’ve just guessed and got lucky.
In conclusion, this is why standardized testing is not beneficial and does not show what students have learned throughout the school year
