You might know it as the thing in April with sun but no this is a total eclipse. On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. And what time is this going to happen and how long will it last? It will last for those located in the path of totality, the earliest start time will be 1:58 p.m. EDT for viewers along the shores of Lake Erie near Leamington, ON. From there, totality begins at 3:13 p.m. EDT and lasts for 2 minutes and 7 seconds. The partial eclipse will then end at 4:28 p.m. EDT. Eleanor McElroy I think that because it is right in our area a lot of people will remember it and especially because it might never happen again.”
From 1918 to 2099 the space program has planned all of the eclipse out here are the dates The solar eclipses on June 8, 1918; May 10, 1994; August 21, 2017; October 14, 2023; April 8, 2024; August 12, 2045; and September 14, 2099 each have long paths stretching from coast to coast. And how long is in between space until NASA officially reported to the Associated Press that it typically takes 400 years to 1,000 years before the path of totality in a total solar eclipse returns to the same spot. From Mexico to Newfoundland, roughly 44 million people live within the path of totality of the April 8 eclipse. And to see the solar eclipse you must have special glasses to protect your eyes during an eclipse, it's crucial to use proper eye protection such as solar viewing glasses or indirect viewing methods like pinhole projectors. Alana Armstrong said “ I think that the glasses will help a lot because it might hurt your eyes.”
These methods allow you to safely observe the eclipse without risking eye damage. And why is this eclipse so special? It is because the Moon lies a little closer to the Earth during totality in 2024 (as compared to totality in 2017), it will appear just a bit larger in the sky. That means it will take the Moon a bit longer to move in its orbit across the face of the Sun. And also some people think this is not a big deal but the total solar eclipse on April 8 is causing such a stir because the rare event — where the shadow of the moon will plunge a narrow strip of land into darkness in the middle of the day — is an astronomical experience like no other that will be unusually accessible to millions of people.
