Many people for the new year make new year's resolutions or watch fireworks. Some people enjoy it and some people don’t. But if you forget about the new year's resolutions and activities, what do people actually think about the change? About 2024? You might think people want a fresh start, or 2023 was just bad for them. But we will hear what some people think about the new years.
Some people like Alana Armstrong, a EJHS student, think that it will be a good year. “I am excited because I believe it will be a good year,” says Alana. She also says how she thinks it will be fun and exciting. And surely she isn't the only one who thinks the year will be great! How do we know that? Well, because Julia Schliesser, another EJHS student says, “I am excited to try something new and make new goals.” While Alana and Julia are excited for the New Year, what about the people who aren't excited?
This is just a drawn image of a 2024 calendar page.
These are some fireworks for the celebration.
To start off, lots of people don’t like change, and could be very difficult for them. That's just a small reason why some of these people might not like the New Year. Or, like Callie Beyers, who you guessed it, an EJHS student! The reason she doesn’t like the New year is because she gets older every year! Which means her and (mainly) everyone else is getting closer and closer to things like high school and graduation. And it could not be one of those but something that is getting closer to happening, that you might fear or not like.
When most people think of “Do you like the New Year” most people would think of a yes or no question, but there are some people that really don’t care or just don’t really think anything of it. There are people like Cambrie Narey who don’t know what to think of the new year. She said something about how she was supposed to know what 2024 would be like. And her response makes complete sense! We’re only less than a month into this year, so how would we know if the year would be good or not? How would you be able to know if 2024 would be better or even worse than 2023?
With all this being said, lots of people think differently of the new years, whether it’s going great, bad, or not knowing what to even expect.
