Is that a smoked ribs I smell? There is a new Barbecue place. If you attend the Fall Festival you have seen them or even tasted some of the ribs, Phat Daddy barbecue is located on 46 just outside Ellettsville near Jiffy Treat. Phat Daddy’s is a place that started on September 27, 2023 that sells grilled food and they have some holiday specials.
Phat Daddy opened on September 27, 2023. “It was a dream of my dad’s”- Bruce, the owner of Phat Daddy's said. Phat daddy´s started with Bruce grilling for some friends. Bruce got a job working with cell phone towers and when they were done Bruce would barbecue for them. It led to Bruce going to riv 20 a Christian Festival in the Owen County Square where their kitchen was a blue tent and a grill. They started at 10:00 and sold out at noon. From there, they went to the apple butter festival in Owen County Square and they started at 10:00 and were sold out at 2:00. Also they brought a lot more pork. Some people asked him to do it for their wedding and one of the people at that wedding asked if he could do his nephew's wedding. Then they did more Festivals in the area.
Did you know that Phat Daddy’s barbecue rating is 5 stars according to Facebook? Madeline Jackson said, “ I think that Phat Daddy’s is a great place to eat and you should really try their nacho.” One of the most popular items is the pulled pork sandwich. However, all the food has been tasted and approved by Phat Daddy himself. Bruce’s personal favorite meal on the menu is smoked chicken wings. Just this last week at Thanksgiving, one customer said, “ The flavors were spot on like my grandmother used to make.” Whether you are hungry for chicken, pulled pork, ribs, or comfort food like meatloaf, you should stop in and enjoy a meal at Phat Daddy’s Barbecue. A bonus to the great-tasting food is that this business is local.
Bruce, Phat Daddy himself graduated from and played football for Edgewood High School. He moved here in 7th grade from northern Indiana. Bruce has lived around here for more than 27 years. He has been barbecuing since he was 14, learning the art of barbeque from his dad and uncle. Bruce, his wife, Kasey, and their children call this area home.
So instead of spending 3 hours smoking a rack of ribs, or skip the commute to go into Bloomington, eat at our local, customer approved restaurant here in Ellettsville. As the holiday season approaches, bring your family in or order a meal out from Phat Daddy's BBQ. Can you imagine the delight that food from Phat Daddy BBQ would bring to your New Years party? Let’s make the end of this year and next year a time to enjoy and support a wonderful local restaurant like Phat Daddy’s BBQ.
