Do you think Mr.Anspaugh is a really good teacher? Do you think you know all about him but do you really? He is a very funny teacher with an incredible personality, and is always connecting with other teachers and students. Mr. Anspaugh is a 31 year old 6th grade English teacher at EJHS that has been teaching for 9 years. In middle school Mr.Anspaugh liked wrestling and running and in High School he liked to do the same.He said that his favorite part of his job is that each day is different and he doesn’t know what the kids are going to bring that day. A 6th grader at EJHS named Payton Connelley said, “Mr.Anspaugh is one of the best teachers." And his least favorite part of his job is the long grading day like the essay’s that he has to grade.

Mr.Anspaugh said, “If I could change jobs I would be an astronaut. I want to go to the moon.” His two main hobbies are running through the woods and playing the guitar. He has been playing since he was in the eighth grade. One of Mr.Anspaugh's funny things he does is he wears different kinds of crazy socks each day. And that is the thing that gets a laugh out of his students.

If Mr. Anspaugh had to go to another subject while teaching it would be social studies, because when he went to college at IU (Indiana University) and didn’t know his major. Then he was going to teach but he didn’t know what, it was really between English and Social Studies. And he chose English of course. Mr. Anspaugh said his main focus while teaching is well of course the standard stuff that the state says he had to teach, but other than that he really focuses on their learning but also are they getting something out of class. A EJHS student of Mr. Anspaugh said this, “He always finds a way to make things fun in class.” Mr. Anspaugh is really obsesed with his dogs too.
He said his main goal in life is to put one foot in front of the other and see where the day takes you. And also to have a strong impact everyday on the people around me and just enjoy it. When he is teaching he more leans to making a connection with his students instead of just being like get me out of here i’m done with teaching today. He said it makes his day so much better to have that strong connection with them so they know that they can talk to you. I asked him if he would rather teach another grade than 6th and he said someday he might go on and teach another grade but for now he is staying put.

His school growing up was Shelbyville Middle School and Shelbyville High School. The school I used to teach at: Mt. Vernon Junior High School in Mt. Vernon, Indiana - I used to teach 7th grade ELA. He said he likes teaching 6th grade better.

He said he started working his way into teaching by this one English teacher named Mr. Wrightsman - he now teaches at Brown County High School but he had him work on this project and you would kind of have to teach it to the whole class and that was his first look at teaching and he really enjoyed it. “I like Mr.Anspaugh because he is a goofy person,” says one of Mr. Anspaughs students at EJHS He said when he was about in the 6th grade funny enough that he wanted to play in the NBA for basketball, but then he realized he wasn’t really good at basketball and he was very short. That is how he knew he wouldn’t make it in the NBA. This is a good reason Mr.Anspaugh is loved and treated with care by everyone in the Edgewood schools.
Callie Beyers is a 11 year old 6th grader who has Mr. Anspaugh in class 4 times, and she also loves reading and writing, and also spending time with her family and her friends.
