Have you ever heard about a lopped-ear rabbit? You can tell when it's a lopped-ear rabbit because its ears won't be up. Their floppy ears make them look cute and serve an important purpose. Lop-eared rabbits are playful animals that love to run, jump, and play games. There are an estimated 14 million pet rabbits in the world. A student from EJHS said, "I really like them although I don't know much about them. I feel like lots of people like them but also lots of people give other people the wrong idea about the bunnies.” Not a lot of people know or have bunnies but this article might change your mind.
This is Bluey my bunny. His name is bluey because he has blue eyes!
Lop-eared rabbits are known for their iconic and adorable ears. Unlike other rabbits, their ears don't stand straight but flop over. This is because of a gene mutation that causes their ears to develop differently. The ears of lop-eared rabbits are long and soft, and they can move them independently to catch sounds from different directions. Their ears not only add to their cuteness but also serve an important purpose in helping them navigate their surroundings and avoid danger.
There are several different types of lop-eared rabbits, each with their distinct characteristics. Some of the most common types include the Holland Lop, the Mini Lop, and the French Lop. Holland Lops are the smallest of the lop-eared breeds. It weighs only 2-4 pounds when fully grown. Mini Lops are slightly bigger. It weighs about 5-6 pounds. French Lops are the biggest of the lop-eared breeds. It can weigh over 10 pounds. Each type of lop-eared rabbit has its own unique personality and needs.
Lop-eared rabbits have a simple diet. Their diet is mostly made of hay, fresh vegetables, and water. They love to munch on grass and hay. They can also chew on wood because rabbits generally have to have something to chew at all times. Additionally, they always need access to clean water to stay hydrated and healthy. By providing a balanced and nutritious diet. That way a lop-eared bunny stays healthy and happy.

Lop-eared rabbits are known for their adorable appearance. Their floppy ears give them a cute and adorable look that makes them stand out from other rabbits. Their playful and curious nature makes them even more cuter! It's hard not to fall in love with their cute little noses, expressive eyes, and fluffy fur. It's no wonder that lop-eared rabbits are loved by many! Lilly Stapleton, a student from EJHS said, “They are literally the cutest and deserve more love and attention in this world.” About 66.7% of students from journalism agreed that lop-eared rabbits are adorable and deserve more attention.
