Should EJHS Students View Valentine's Day Differently?

Valentine's Day is a celebration of love and friendship that has been around for a while, but is it time to rethink the way we look at this holiday, especially at school? I think that Valentine's Day can be a day when we spend time with loved ones and friends! As we are growing up we start to stop viewing Valentine's Day as a fun celebration. It is a day to show kindness and affection to others, not just romantically, but also to friends and family. Here are three reasons why Valentine’s Day should be viewed differently.

My first reason is that Valentine's Day can also be known as a treat yourself day. Not just like a birthday but with an effort to find something that can make you happy. By doing this you can find something new about yourself, and understand you better. Valentine’s Day should also be a day of relaxation. Calmi Go says, “One great thing you can do to help relieve the anxiety of Valentine's Day, whether you're single or not, is to treat yourself. Do something that is just for you like taking a spa day or trying on a new outfit. If money is an issue, spend a relaxing day at home eating your favorite food and doing something you love.”

My second reason is that Valentine’s Day is a day of celebrating friendships and love. A lot of times people will celebrate Valentine’s Day with their family and close friends. Maggie Johnson an EJHS student celebrates Valentine's Day and says, “I celebrate by eating candy, and getting and giving gifts to and from my family. I also like decorating.” Valentine’s Day is also not just about romance, but it is also about having fun with friends and making good memories. Laura Chupp a student from EJHS said, “I think it's not just about boy-girl love. It's just a time to love.” A lot of people don’t just celebrate with their lover but they also do it with their friends. Which is still a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

My third reason is that if we celebrate Valentine’s Day in a fun way we can make fun memories. Celebrating Valentine's Day in a fun way at school can help to create a good environment where everyone feels appreciated and valued. It can also be a great way to create lasting memories and strengthen relationships with those around us.

So to conclude Valentine’s Day should be viewed as a day of having fun and showing love to those you appreciate. If we celebrate Valentine’s Day it can create fun memories, celebrate friendships, and be a day where you treat yourself and relax!
