Do you ever arrive late to class just because you were using the bathroom? National Education Statistics indicates that student tardiness occurs at a rate of 3.3% to 9.5% every day for all students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. It is a problem. It’s not okay to get in trouble for taking care of your needs. And if someone were to try to stop teachers from taking care of their needs they would be upset too. A lot of students have anxiety about going to the bathroom at school. In fact, almost two-thirds (64.6%) of boys and girls ages 6 to 11 rarely or never use the bathroom at school, because it makes them think they will be late for class.
Additionally, nearly 40% always or often choose to "tough it out" rather than use the school bathroom. How it was explained that refusing to allow a child to go to the bathroom is denying them their physical needs and creates the potential for embarrassment or emotional trauma. This is considered abuse. Abuse is illegal. Therefore, Refusing to allow a child to go to the bathroom is illegal..But on the other hand, if a student was late and said, "Oh, I was in the bathroom, but they weren't really there, how would you know?" So while arriving perfectly on time is still completely acceptable, arriving too early doesn't offer much courtesy on most occasions.
They may even “hold it in” for long periods of time, which can lead to a UTI (urinary tract infection) and gastrointestinal health problems, as well as decreased concentration and poor learning outcomes. According to some of the EJHS sixth graders, they want more bathroom stalls and more bathrooms in general. Because people don’t want to deal with only two bathrooms. Payton Connelley, a 6th grader at EJHS said, “ I try not to use the bathroom because it is too crowded and I don't want to be late for class.” People are late for class because they can't get out of the bathroom on time. Because there are so many different people going to the bathroom at once, it can be chaotic. Even if people don't want to use the bathroom because they may be late, that is very bad for you and can cause urinary problems.
If the person you are sending to the bathroom is a bad child or does not have good manners and behavior, you may want to have someone accompany him there so that he does not do anything that could get him or his teachers in trouble for something you did. . And the way to get the teacher in trouble is that you can do something bad out of the teacher's sight and that could get both of you in trouble. This is NOT an excuse to be rude to your teachers. If you really need to go but they won't let you, ask them this, “Would you rather clean up my mess or just let me go to the bathroom?"That should do the trick. If that doesn't work and you REALLY need to go, go anyway, they can stop you from using the bathroom.
But being tardy in the future can mess up your grades. You could have so many tardies and it could be hard to get a good job in the future as well. It can mess up your job days and your school days too. Many people are late for using the bathroom and it could happen to you. So try to use the bathroom at the appropriate time. And maybe you won’t get tardie as much as you would.
