If 2024 couldn't get any more surprising, it has. There was already the death of Queen Elizabeth, 2 years back. Now, King Charles the Third, the king of England, at 75 years old, was diagnosed with cancer on February 6th.
According to the London AP; they said, “King Charle III´s cancer was thankfully caught early, and the monarch will ‘crack on’ with his constitutional duties.” In other words, will continue with the work he does. Britain's Prime Minister said that on Tuesday, February 6th, Prince Harry flew in from California for a rare visit with his father.

When they discovered King Charle´s diagnosis, it was a miracle they caught it during the early stages. That is if you count it as an early stage. He had just barely diagnosed it when they found out about his sickness. Buckingham Palace said, “The King's cancer was found during his recent hospital treatment for an enlarged prostate, but it is a “separate issue” and not prostate cancer, “Thankfully this was caught early,” Sunak told BBC Radio. Additionally saying; “We'll crack on everything.”
Julian Payne, a CBS News royal contributor.
According to CBS News royal contributor, Julian Payne, who served as communications director for then-Prince Charles. said on “CBS Mornings” that the king has generally enjoyed “very robust health.” “So, this will be something he's not used to,” Payne said. “I think he will be stoic about it. He'll most likely do what the doctors ask him to do, and I think his eye will be firmly focused on the work and improvement ahead. I'm sure his eye will be set on getting back to firm fitness.” Payne inquired.
Prince Harry, returned from Los Angeles to the U.K. to see his father after he was informed by Buckingham Palace that King Charle´s had cancer and was actively receiving treatment. The prince was seen driven in a black SUV, leaving London's Heathrow Airport and getting driven to his father's Clarence House residence in central London.
His wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, was not seen with him at the time. Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, had stepped back from his royal duties in 2020. At the time, Harry´s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, (who died in late September 2022) was the reigning monarch. Charle became king immediately upon the death of his mother, and his coronation was held in May of the following year. Needless to say, the royal family has been going through a lot these past two years.

Now, with a word from our students! With all this drama so early into 2024, our EJHS Colts have a lot to say about this matter. More specifically, the sixth graders. Meet some of our amazing students who gave us feedback on how they feel about this information.
Zathalia Welding, a 6th grader at EJHS.
Firstly, meet Zathalia Welding, a 6th-grade Colt here at EJHS, who has a lot of interesting opinions on this matter. “First of all, he's old. He´s seventy-five with cancer? He was bound to die of old age, but if that doesn't happen now, it's gonna be cancer. That's even worse.”
“It's gonna be another big fiasco,” ZZ said. “We´re going to have to get a new king, then it's going to be all over TikTok, and that's anything but what I need this year. It's February. Give us a break.”
Another one of our amazing students, Dorothy Hamilton, an actual editor here for our website, is our second quote for this article. “I think this is unfortunate for everyone,” Dorothy said, “especially since we lost Queen Elizabeth two years ago.” “I also think this could be a big issue for the monarch,” she added.

Fortunately, it is not a serious case, and it was detected in its early stages. So the King has a better chance of recovering and leading a healthy life.
It is important to note that early detection of cancer can be crucial in improving the chances of successful treatment and reducing the risk of complications. Therefore, the fact that the King's condition was caught early is a positive sign. Overall, while the diagnosis of cancer is certainly concerning, the available information suggests that King Charles III is in good hands and is likely to receive the best possible care to help him overcome this health setback.
