Track, from the Coach's Perspective

Mr. Woodcock is one of three great track coaches. He states, “This is my first year coaching middle school track, I’ve only ever coached high school and collegiate teams.” He says it’s really cool that he had originally only known a couple of people and he is now getting to meet around 90. He thinks we will do very well in track meets because of the large number and ability in us. He states, “I think for people going to try track for the first time, they need to know that it really shows if you don’t put in the effort. You can blend in at practice, but when you are alone in the lane, if you finish last everyone will know that.” Overall, you need to be prepared and try your hardest to be at your full potential. 

Another one of the EJHS track coaches, Mrs. Myers, stated, “I’m hoping that our boys and our girls will pull through and win our last meet, WIC.” She believes that people that have never ran track before should know that even if you are the youngest runner, the times will tell. She states, “Don’t let anybody tell you that you shouldn’t be in the position you are ranking. No matter how old you are, the only thing that people can judge you on is your time. Age should have nothing to do with it.” She thinks we will do very well in the meets, and is especially excited for the throwers.
