As the principal here at Edgewood Jr. High School, Mr. Siegelin has a very interesting life. It all started when Mr. Siegelin had a teaching career. He taught for 1 year in North Carolina, 2 years on the Eastside of Indianapolis, and then 6 on the Westside, bringing his teaching total to 9 years. After teaching for 9 years in 7th and 8th grade math Algebra 1 and Geometry he became an assistant principal for 5 years at Tri-North Middle School before coming to Edgewood. He has been the principal here for 5 years now. When asked about what led up to him becoming a principal he said, “My goal was always to work in the same community of where I lived.”
Even though Mr. Siegelin loves being a principal here at EJHS, he didn't think that he was going to be one when he was little and even when he was in college.
“When I was a kid I wanted to be a doctor, but it just didn't appeal to me, but when I was in high school, I played football in which I had amazing coaches, which made me want to be a coach,” he said with passion and pride.
As a teacher, he coached football, baseball, and wrestling. Well that is just one of the types of jobs that he has done. When he was in middle school he did track, and tennis. But he didn't just coach. When he was in college he worked at a truck factory building boxes. In high school he worked at McDonalds, and then he worked after college as a park maintenance worker, Cleaning the park bathrooms, Mowing lawns, lining athletic fields and doing stuff like that.
But that's just some of the duties that he had done before he became a teacher. Some of the duties that Mr. Sieglin has as a Principal are, supervision, evaluation, budget, facilities, and professional development. As the principal these are very important tasks to do for the schools safety, and to keep the school up and going for all of the great students here at EJHS. Mr. Siegelin is a great principal with an amazing personality, great kindness, and all the love in his heart for this school.
To help Mr. Siegelin out he has some amazing staff, like the Assistant Principal Mr. Pogue, the amazing front desk ladies Mrs. Ashba and Mrs. Norris, and all of the other amazing teachers and staff members that help so much with this school. But the best person that he has in his life is his super supportive wife that he has had right out of college. This being said, you should always treat your principal with great respect. Thank you Mr. Siegelin for being the best principal we could ever ask for.
