Do you know Averi Krebbs? Well, if you don’t, you should get to know her! She is an amazing softball player, friend, and just a great person in general! Averi is especially known for her talent in softball, as Meg Wilson, her best friend, says, “I can tell that she really, really loves softball, because she talks about it ALL the time.” We decided that we wanted to interview Averi about her love for softball, so here it is!
We asked Averi a variety of questions and she had great answers! Averi started playing softball when she was about 4 years old, and surprisingly, her mom actually had her start playing, although her dad was her biggest influence, and she just fell in love with the sport once she began! According to Averi, she faced the challenge of “not being able to catch the ball”, in fact, when she was younger, she would always catch the ball with her bare hand, and now she can’t feel most things in her right hand!
Averi actually made a couple new friends while playing softball, including her current teammates, Haylie Taylor also known as Hay hay to Averi, and her best friend to this day! Averi’s preferred position to play is 3rd Base, but she also really likes playing outfield and pitching! Her biggest takeaway from playing softball would be that there is not enough time to do other things, so make sure you really want to play before you commit to softball. And finally, when asked “what piece of advice would you give to someone who wanted to go further in softball”, she responded with,”Keep trying, even if you fail, you will get it right at some point.” Averi didn’t get the pick of her first number for the school team but when it came time to pick numbers for this year she was so excited that her previous number, eleven wasn’t already picked. So she chose number eleven again this year, although her preferred number is number one.
In conclusion, Averi is an amazing softball player, teammate, an outstanding friend, and just a joy to be around! Many of her friends would agree with us.
