This is all about Mrs. Grim, what she likes about Edgewood, and all about her and what she likes to do. She’s a new teacher and has only been here for only one year. Her favorite thing about being a teacher Is that she likes working with students and being able to develop relationships with people. She said, “It's nice and I'm never bored."
She's always learning new things and not one day is the same. I asked her if it is fun teaching, and she said, "Yes, it's very fun to teach students, they often make me laugh and I’m able to learn things from them just like they are able to learn from me." Mrs. Grim graduated high school in 2018 and she graduated college in May 2022. I asked, why did you come to edgewood? And she said, ¨I was in the Community of Teachers program at Indiana University, and I needed to find a mentor to shadow. I reached out to Principal Siegelin, and he was able to find a teacher to mentor me (Mrs. Grubb). I ended up shadowing her for 2 years, and eventually student teaching at Edgewood my last semester of college.¨ She really likes Edgewood. She really enjoys how the classes are broken into a block schedule. These classes allow teachers to teach more information in a longer period of time, and it allows students the hardest part about teaching. Sometimes it's hard to use classroom management. She doesn't like yelling at students or enforcing punishments, but sometimes it’s necessary to make sure students are on task and listening. She wants to make sure everyone is listening but occasionally has a hard time making sure everyone's on task.
Her goal in life is someday she wants to go back to college and get her masters degree done. She's looking forward to being a teacher and more opportunities to learn as a new teacher and she wants to grow in her experience. Mrs. Grim says, ¨I hope to develop a better understanding of what it truly means to help students grow and learn.¨
