The Splatoon saga has been quiet for a while until recently a few weeks ago when Splatoon 3 came out!
Splatoon is a video game in which you are a squid (inkling) that can either go through a story mode or play in turf wars, each splatoon has a story mode and a “Special Broadcast” featuring what maps the turf wars will be played on and other maps like that.

The first splatoon game first came out on May 29, 2015 and was played on the Wii U. Each splatoon game has featured different idols, the first ones being Callie and Marie who are also featured in splatoon 2. In the first Splatoon the customization was pretty limited only focusing on two specific genders with only one gender specific hairstyle. Although the customization was limited they still had diverse skin colors and many eye colors to choose from.

Splatoon 2 came out on July 21, 2017 and gained a lot of popularity over the release and improvements splatoon made compared to the previous game. For example, more hairstyles, more eye colors, and more options considering clothing and gear. New idols were also released into the game named Pearl and Marina who are included in an expansion in the game featuring Octolings (octopus people).

There is also still a “News Cast” called Off The Hook whenever you enter the game the “Broadcast starts playing” and features the maps for online battles for the day and advertises for Salmon Runs. Salmon Runs are a feature were you get a job for Grizz.co industries to get golden eggs from little fish that crawl out of the sea. And on top of all that we now have clothing shops and we still have a story mode featuring Marie from the first splatoon!

And what you all were waiting for, Splatoon 3!
Splatoon 3 has had so many upgrades including the new idols Shiver, Frye, and Big Man! Frye’s song themes and clothing are heavily based off of Indian and Middle Eastern culture. Fun fact! A Frye is what a group of eels are sometimes called.
Then next is Shiver which is based off of Asian/Japanese culture based on her outfit and parts of songs, Another fun fact! A Shiver is what a group of sharks are called.
And last of the new idols is Big Man! Big Man is a manta, and is based off of Brazilian culture, Big Man is Shiver and Fryes sidekick in Splatoon 3 and helps them out with gigs and the news cast! Next up in Splatoon 3 is the customization, the customization has expanded so much compared to the other Splatoon games. There are tons of new hairstyles that are not gender specific anymore and now you can switch between being an inkling or an octoling! There are also non gender specific pants you can choose from and you can now customize a weird little pet you own called, “Buddy”.
As you can see Splatoon improved so much through the ages and will continue to until the saga ends, Splatoon 3 is available on the switch on the nintendo E-Shop for 60 dollars!
