Popular Video Games From the 1980s

A lot of people play or have played video games. In fact, 3.09 billion people play video games worldwide! Some popular video games might be Minecraft or Roblox. People have been playing video games for a long time. Some go back to the 1980s. So, what were some popular video games from the 1980s?
Pac Man
The first video game is Pac Man. Pac Man is a classic video game enjoyed by millions of people. The way to play Pac Man is the person who is controlling Pac Man has to collect all the dots in the maze without getting caught by the ghosts roaming around the maze. It is said that there are about 255-256 levels to Pac Man. Pac Man was first released in 1980. The game was made by a Japanese man named Toru Iwatani who is most well known for creating Pac Man. In fact, Pac Man was the number one video game in 1980.
Mario Bros
The next video game is Mario Bros. Like Pac Man, a lot of people enjoy Mario Bros and as of the moment there are over 100 Mario based games to play. There are not many available rules provided, but the game is somewhat like the Mario Bros we have today. The game contains 8 worlds. Mario Bros came out in 1983, and was created by a Japanese game designer named Shigeru Miyamoto. One fun fact about Mario is that his first appearance was on another popular 1980s video game called Donkey Kong.
Donkey Kong
Speaking of Donkey Kong, the next game is none other than Donkey Kong! The game Donkey Kong is about the adventures of a gorilla who is named Donkey Kong and his friends. In fact, what had made Donkey Kong so popular was the fact that it was one of the hardest games of its era. Donkey Kong was released in 1981, and was started by a Japanese video game designer named Shigeru Miyamoto. Shigeru Miyamoto is also known for creating the game Mario Bros.
The Legend of Zelda
The fourth game is, Legend of Zelda! Legend of Zelda is an action-adventure game that was released in 1986. Like a lot of the games, Legend of Zelda was created by the Japanese game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. Another creator of Legend of Zelda is a Japanese man named Takashi Tezuki. “I really liked playing Legend of Zelda.” says Mr. Gill, a 6th grade math teacher at EJHS.
