First of all metal is a lot harder to make. Pop music is usually made on a computer and has too much autotune on vocals while metal uses real instruments. Making music on a computer isn’t very hard, you can just use loops and not use any real instruments. For metal you need to create your own music so you need to be able to memorize the things you write, then teach a band the music and if they can’t play it you’ll need to make a new song. Making metal music is a much harder process especially if it's for a band, sure there are some solo projects like Burzum and a lot of black metal but then you would need to be good at a lot of instruments while pop music you just need a computer. Nobody plays bends like Cliff Burton, nobody taps like Eddie Van Halen, nobody screams like Will Ramos (Yes screaming does take talent), and nobody sings like King Diamond or Ronnie James Dio.
Metal has hundreds of subgenres. With so many subgenres there is something that everybody will like if you like screaming vocals, blast beats, and distorted guitars then death metal, if you like classical music but also metal then progressive metal. Pop kind is all the same and not very interesting musically. It's almost always in 4/4 time signatures and has untalented singers who sound good because of autotune (not that all pop singers are bad singers). and pop doesn’t have very many subgenres. Metal literally has subgenres of subgenres such as brutal death metal or crossover thrash metal or blackened thrash metal. Although this could be seen as a downside for some people such as Ryan from municipal waste who says that metal is just metal and it shouldn’t have so many subgenres.

Also metal songs are typically longer than pop songs, most pop songs are short while metal has songs like master of puppets by metallica which is eight minutes and the art of dying by Gojira which is 10 minutes, the band sleep even has a song over 1 hour long. This is an upside because it gives songs more time for solos and it makes it so that a song can tell a story better. There isn’t really much else to say about this.
The next reason metal is better than pop is because of the lyrics. Metal songs especially thrash metal focus on topics of war, songs such as angel of death by slayer discuss the holocaust. However this leads some people to believe that metal bands glorify war but that's completely not the case in fact they do the opposite. Also bands like Motörhead have many songs about politics while pop almost never talks about those things because people who make pop want to get famous and they want to have as many people listen to their music so they can’t put their own political views or it will be too controversial.
All of these reasons are why metal is better than pop.
