Did you ever crave for a strong female protagonist? Or want to see girls strike back at those wealthy money-makers? Well if you do, Enola Holmes is perfect for you. Enola Holmes is a movie series about Sherlock’s sister Enola trying to make it in the world as a girl detective. Recently, a sequel to the first movie came out, Enola Holmes 2. "It is very well laid-out and I loved the plot twist," says Ailynn Kvale. WARNING, this article does include spoilers for both movies!

In the sequel, Enola Holmes 2, Enola is trying to sustain her new business. But with being a young female, everyone is turning her down and asking for her brother, Sherlock. With no more hope, Enola decides to shut down her business. But right when she is about to leave with her belongings, a young girl comes up and asks if she can help her find her sister. As the girl, Bessie leads Enola to their house, Enola finds out some key information.
Bessie was taken in by a girl named Sarah Chapman after her parents died. She then inhabits a life as a “match girl,” or a girl who works at a match (fire matches) factory (only girls work there). During this time Sarah is working two jobs, a match factory and something named the “stag antlers”, in hope of keeping her and Bessie alive. There are also many accounts saying that she stole some papers from the match factory office.

There is a whole long line of events, but I am going to leave that for you to go and watch. In the end, Enola and Tewkesbury fall in love, we meet Moriarty, Sherlock meets Watson, and Moriarty escapes jail. I almost went all the way in detail but I stopped myself, so you are welcome.
With all being said, I would like to say this is a great Movie and I would 100% recommend it. "It really described the values of women's rights during that time period," says Macy Mullin. It really shows that girls can do anything guys do and sometimes better. This is a great series for young girls to watch, to show them, you can do better than what other people say you can. When the first movie came out, I would go around and pretend to be Enola, and I still love to have a little fun doing that today.
But before you watch this movie you must watch the original, Enola Holmes. And if this just isn’t your cup of tea (or coffee as some prefer, or anything else!), then I totally get it, but you could read some other reviews to find more movies your style. But even if you don’t want to, TRY it, you can never judge a book by its cover.
