Why Ham is Better than Turkey.
By:Alder Hanson
Turkey and ham are both types of meats that are good for Thanksgiving. Which one is really better? I say ham because turkey is just so dry. Sure turkey might be iconic for Thanksgiving but ham is just so much better for big families. I’m just saying ham is the classic.
Ham is richer in zinc, potassium, and protein than turkey. Ham is less expensive in stores, and they don´t get old quite as fast as turkey. Turkey can be dry, very dry. Once you cook ham it is very hard to mess up but once you cook turkey there are so many ways that it can go wrong. Caitlyn Bayne, a sixth grader, said, “Ham, because ham is sweeter.” Ham is sweet and that is a good thing because you want sweet meat and not dry meat.
Ham can be eaten two ways by being smoked or cooked in an oven. Ham just has more flavor and is harder to get dry. It can be preserved and doesn't go bad for days. Turkey on the other hand can go bad fast and is hard to preserve. It's hard to get your hands on turkey because everyone wants it. Once you eat ham you have a sensation of sweet meat. Anderson Shertzer, a sixth grader, said, “Ham because turkey is too dry.” Now everyone thinks turkey is better, well it's not because turkey is for cartoons. Multiple Families eat ham because ham is sold out but they eat all of the ham and turkey is always left over.
There is always enough ham for families to eat because turkey is hard to get hands on because in November they don't make enough turkey for families to eat for Thanksgiving. So ham is made more and more because there are more available pigs for ham. Once you eat turkey it can be super dry and is hard to chew but once you eat ham it is easy to chew and swallow. It can be the best meat but at least it is 2nd, turkey is like 5th. When you cook turkey you can light it on fire and the oven won't go off but ham is easy to cook and it is hard to light on fire. It is easy to cook and it is sweet and that is why ham is better than turkey. Turkey is the worst and ham is on top.
