What are the Best Ice Cream Flavors?

The top most favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla ice cream. This sweet treat is very popular world wide. Lots of people really enjoy this flavor while some people just don’t enjoy it as much as the other really good ice cream flavors. Vanilla ice cream was introduced to the U.S. in 1824. Thomas Jefferson discovered the flavor in France and decided to share the recipe with the U.S. During the 1780s, Thomas Jefferson decided to write his own recipe for vanilla ice cream. The recipe is now located at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. Ella Johnson, a seventh grader, says Vanilla is the best ice cream flavor. She says, “I like this kind of ice cream because the vanilla does not have a strong taste.”

Chocolate was the very first flavor of ice cream invented. Chocolate ice cream was documented in a book that was published in 1692 in Naples, Italy. The book that was documented in is called The Modern Steward, written by Antonio Latini. The recipe is called Frozen Hot Chocolate made with a mix of spices that include Cinnamon, chill pepper, and anise (a type of spice). Chocolate is the first ice cream flavor discovered in New York, United States on May 12, 1777

The third most popular ice cream flavor that is truly loved by many people is the classic Cookies ‘n Cream. In 1979, Shirley Seas invented the Oreo ice cream later known as Cookies ‘n Cream. “I like it and I have only eaten that ice cream for the past several years.” says Wren Ferguson. Shirley Seas wanted to come up with a different ice cream flavor so, he went and bought some Oreo cookies and mixed it with vanilla ice cream.

Mint chocolate chip is another popular ice cream in EJHS. Mint chocolate chip was invented by a culinary student named Marilyn Rickeets in 1973. Its original home is in South America. MInt chocolate chip is an original flavor at Baskin Robbins which became a sample in 1945. Annalise Emmons, a sixth grader, believes that Mint chocolate chips are the best ice cream flavor. She says, “It  is the best because it has the perfect mix of mint and chocolate.”

The Last top favorite ice cream flavor is Cookie dough. Cookie dough originated in 1984 at the first Ben & Jerry’s “scoop shop” in Burlington, Vermont. The flavor was a suggestion from an anonymous person. Lauren Martindale says, “I like this flavor because you get the ice cream but you also get the really good cookie dough chucks and it's delicious.” In 1991, Ben & Jerry’s began selling the ice cream flavor which very quickly became a really popular ice cream flavor from customers.
