What is the Best Elective at EJHS?
Students at EJHS have eight classes. Of those eight, they got to choose four of them, but what is their favorite class? After getting twenty-three responses the winning elective was JOURNALISM, then BAND, then GYM, then MEDIA PRODUCTION, and lastly CHOIR. Read to find out what people said about these electives and why they are so great.
In first place was JOURNALISM with 15 votes! Journalism is a class where you write for the school newspaper, Colts Chronicles. A lot of students enjoy the class because they get to write what they want for people to read it online. A sixth-grade student in Journalism, Kinley Butler stated, “Journalism is my favorite because I love to write and have the joy of seeing my article on Colts Chronicles.” As you can see, Journalism is a fun class that students enjoy and you should enroll in it next year.

Next, in second place is BAND with 12 votes. Band is a class where you can play an instrument of your choice and you get to play in the concerts. You can even be in jazz band or advanced band when you get to seventh and eighth grade. A Jazz Band student, Maggie McCormack said, “Band is my favorite because I get a good grade for doing what I love; playing the drums.” As you can see, Band is a class that students enjoy and if you like music maybe it is the class for you.
Coming in third place is GYM with eight votes! Gym is a class where Mr. Sparks and Mrs.Walters teach you about different sports and how to play them. When you get to seventh grade and eighth grade you can take part in Advanced Gym which is where you lift weights. Jack Grubaugh, a sixth grader in third-period Gym, stated, “I like Gym because I get to play different sports I like.” Based on this information, you can tell that students enjoy going to Gym. Another benefit of taking Gym is you can get exercise, so you should take Gym next year.

Next, in fourth place is MEDIA PRODUCTION with five votes. Media Production is a class where you make videos on WeVideo. Students in Media Production make videos for the community and the school such as Monday Minute. KyvLynn Shipley-Patrick, a sixth grader in Media Production says, “I enjoy Media Production because I like to use all the tools on WeVideo.” As you can tell from this statements, Media Production is a class that students enjoy for multiple reasons and you should choose to take it next year.
In fifth place is CHOIR. Choir is a class where you get to sing songs and perform for the school and sometimes the community. Dorothy Halimton, a sixth-grader, says, “ I like choir because it is very different from other classes, and I like Ms.Campbell also because it is just a really fun environment.” As you can see students that have choir really enjoy it and you should sign up for it next year.

Overall, you can tell that a lot of different people like these five electives that you should take next year. With Journalism being the most popular, band coming in second, gym coming third, media production coming in fourth place, and choir wrapping it up in fifth place. Now you know what classes you should take go have a jolly time in school.
