By: Emma Warner               5/18

If you know some current 5th graders who are struggling to find classes that they want to take, here are the top 5 classes that people liked and would recommend them to people. I took a survey of 30 people and here are the top 5.

In 5th place with two votes, there was Band. Band is a class where you get to first pick any instrument that is available to you and you get to learn how to play it. You will start with the basics of it and then you will start to learn more advanced songs. “It is fun and has an interesting environment for people.” This is what Avi Grile said about the band.  You will have to attend at least 3 performances a year. It is a two-term class.  This class is taught by Mr. Koehlor.

In 4th place, we have PE with 3 votes. PE is a class where you learn how to play different sports and you get to condition ofr them. Kendall Robinson said, “  It is very athletic and all the games are very fun” It is a one or two-semester course. So you get to pick how long you take it. This class is taught by Mrs. Walters or Mr. Sparks.

In 3rd place, we have Media Production with 4 votes. In this class, you will learn the basics of Media Production. How to film, write scripts, and many other things. This class is taught currently by Mrs. Hanson but may change next year. “It is really fun and different.” This is what Kelly Donahue said. It is a one-semester course.

In 2nd place, we have Choir with 5 votes. Choir is taught by Mrs. Campbell. It is a two-semester course and there are two performances per year and they are part of your grade. You need to attend one if not both. Greta Vagedes said, “ Choir is the best because Mrs. Campbell is the best and I LOVE to sing.”

And in 1st place with a whopping 15 votes, that is half of the votes, we have Journalism. It is taught by either Mrs. Ayer or Mr. Ansbaugh. It is a two-semester course and you get to write for the school newspaper. You start off with learning the basics of Journalism. Like learning why your article may be newsworthy and how to make it ethical. You get to interview people and do many other things. Charlotte Hale said, “I love Journalism and I like getting to write for the school newspaper.”

I hope this might help any incoming 6th grader help pick which classes they would like to take a look at and the full course list here. Hope this helps.
