Thanksgiving Break; Should it be longer?

At EJHS we usually have a three day Thanksgiving Break. Should we have a longer one? In my opinion we should have a longer break. Thanksgiving break offers a needed break to catch up on work or just relax. It can also be a time to hang out with family and friends, so it should definitely be longer. 

The website smartasset.com stated that 95% of Americans spend the holidays with their family, so a week for Thanksgiving would offer the time needed for travel and family time. 

Reason number two is that you can relax, catch up on work, or do other activities. A great thing to do on breaks is to make sure you get your work done. But relaxing is good too, according to Scientific American relaxation can help students be successful. A longer break can provide you with time to relax and time to do Thanksgiving activities. Emma Curtis stated that ”I want a longer Thanksgiving break because I can sleep in and relax for a longer time.”    

 A week-long break would allow you to travel somewhere, get home and get back on your normal schedule. These reasons make it obvious why we should have a longer break. Thanksgiving break is a time to spend with family, and not everyone lives near family so a longer time to spend with family is good.  People also maybe can’t travel to see family in three days so a week is a much better break in my opinion. We would have to add two extra days at the end of the year but I think that is worth it.
