Do you love your pets? Do animals getting abused and killed make you upset? Animal testing is something that has been going on for YEARS, and needs to stop soon. In this article I will be stating why animal testing isn’t always correct science, how it's unethical, and how it is wasteful.
My first reason is that it isn’t always correct. “The National Institutes of Health reports that 95 out of every 100 drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans,” says PETA. It is also known that animals don’t get the same reactions to different drugs and diseases like humans do, so it is just silly to think they would respond the same way people do. There are also many diseases that humans get that animals don't, making it unfactual.
Secondly, it's unethical. It is awful to send over 100 million living, breathing, and thinking animals into a laboratory for the rest of their life. That is just intentionally causing pain and suffering. Is that what you want humans to do to animals? I know I don’t. PETA, a website about how bad animal testing is, says, “Animal experiments prolong the suffering of humans waiting for effective cures because the results mislead experimenters and squander precious money, time, and other resources that could be spent on human-relevant research.” Why would we waste our time, money, and adorable animals to try something that is proven to not work?
My last reason is that it's wasteful. It takes so much time, effort, and money to test on these animals, when half the time the results don’t prove anything we can’t prove with machines. Most of the time animal experiments are so useless that companies don’t even post the information. The Humane Society says, “It takes about a decade and $3,000,000 to complete all of the animal studies required to register one single pesticide with the US Environmental Protection Agency.” which proves my point on how costly it is.
In conclusion, animal testing is bad because it isn’t correct science, it is unethical, and it is wasteful. I hope this article inspired you to take a stand up to animal testing all over the world.
